Since 1985 the tournament has been held the first weekend in October to accommodate the busy schedules of coaches and scouts. With a clipboard in one hand, a stop watch in the other and a radar gun at his side, a college coach or professional scout can evaluate close to 300 top-notch athletes from the same seat.
